My time in the VIU lab gave me my first real understanding of what research actually is beyond the polished version that we can see in published papers and conferences. Working on both the scientific and coordinator side of the lab, I learned what true research requires from experiment design to the infrastructure that keeps a lab running. Working on an honors thesis in the lab also taught me that good science required detailed thinking and patience. My experience gave me the conviction to work as a scientist in the future. I'll be continuing that path at Columbia University, where I'm joining Dr. Nikolaus Kriegeskorte's lab as a Staff Research Assistant. My work focuses on neural representations and representational similarity between biological and artificial systems.
